Keeping Families Together

Free and Low Cost Services

MIA’s Family Unity Project promotes the economic security and wellbeing of our community by providing low-cost immigration services to low-income families. Eligible immediate family members of our Children’s or Survivors’ Project clients may receive pro bono services or pay a small, income-based fee for services. Family Unity Project clients must demonstrate a household income at or below 150% of federal poverty guidelines. We know family, however you define it, is the backbone of any community, and we believe that expensive legal fees should never be a barrier to family unity.

Legal Orientations

The Family Unity Project provides legal orientation services to families and sponsors caring for children who are navigating the immigration system. The complexity of the legal system is compounded when contending with cultural, economic, and linguistic barriers—and the fear of deportation. We have empowered over 2,000 Mid-South families by helping them wade through the words, the papers, and the process so they understand their children’s options in immigration court.
