Children’s Project Coordinator Lissette Zavala works with immigrant children in temporary foster care who are living in the Nashville area. Lissette is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University (BA, Political Science Pre-law & International Relations). She has more than 15 years of experience as an immigration paralegal. Her experience includes: asylum, unaccompanied children, victims of violence, deportation and removal, employment-based, family-based, and naturalization cases.
Lissette believes in empowering immigrants and refugees by educating them and defending their rights. She joined MIA because she “wants to help protect children and survivors of violent crimes.” She is a world traveler and enjoys learning about and experiencing other cultures.
